Hot! Cleaning Your Office With Vinegar

Vinegar is an eco-friendly, multi-purpose product every commercial office space should keep in stock. One container of vinegar can be used straight-up or in a mixture of water and soap to freshen bathrooms, kitchens, and even conference rooms. Discover the many ways vinegar can make your office space sparkle and shine in between your scheduled janitorial services.

In the Kitchen

  • Freshen the fridge. Your coworkers can bring in some unique dishes. To keep the fridge looking and smelling fresh, wipe the shelves, walls, and drawers with a solution of half water, half vinegar. The vinegar will help to release any built-up foods and those caked on stains you’re not sure of.
  • Clean up the sink. By the end of the week, the sink in your office kitchen can start to look a little grimy. Clean and sanitize chrome sink features with a mixture of warm water and distilled white vinegar. Use a paper towel or microfiber cloth to give these surfaces a wipe down at the end of each work day to avoid that end-of-week build up.
  • Tidy up the microwave. There’s always one person who tries reheating last night’s fish in the office microwave. To clean and deodorize from that disaster, mix 1/2 a teaspoon of vinegar into distilled water. Then, use a spray bottle to cover the microwave walls. Allow the solution to sit for a minute, then wipe away with a microfiber cloth.

In the Bathroom

  • Refresh the air. With so many people coming in and out on a daily basis, public bathrooms can get, well, smelly. Keep your office’s public restroom unsullied with 1/2 a teaspoon of vinegar, distilled water, and a pleasant-smelling essential oil. These elements work perfectly together as an air freshener. Plus, it’s easy enough to whip up in a pinch!
  • Sanitize surfaces. A 50/50 solution of water and vinegar can remove any soap scum or unknown stains from the counters in your office bathroom. This solution is also good for wiping down door handles, sink faucets, and other commonly touched areas. This solution is also great for tile and hardwood flooring!
  • Revive toilets and urinals. No matter how frequently your cleaning crew comes, these bathroom commodities can quickly require a refresher. Keep baking soda and a spray bottle of white vinegar and water handy. When toilets get funky, sprinkle the baking soda onto the surface, then spray with the diluted vinegar. The chemical reaction will remove stains and any smells that may have lingered.

Use these simple vinegar solutions to keep your office free of lingering odors, dirty countertops, and smelly fridges!
